Doesn’t make sense to tour 3 countries in 4 days! Well maybe. But if you’re a “travelholic” and staying in vienna you can get some ideas what to do if some neighbour states are not that far. Well that happened. So i visited slovakia and hungary as well. Second time in vienna and is has been a better time that the first time. Well the weather and season did play a big role. The historical city centre is pretty impressive. Starting at the Natural History Museum, passing the “Hofburg” Palace and the “Spanish Court Riding-School”, and finally reaching the St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Things to see! In Slovakia Bratislava has been visited. Basically a typical east european city with quite a lot of the prefabricated constructions/buildings. But the castle on top of the small hill gives you a wonderful view over the whole city and the danube river. In hungary i visited sopron, which is a small town at the border to austria. Remembers you at the old times. Mentionable cause at the time of the turnaround( 1989; short before the wall in Berlin has fallen), a couple of hundred GDR citizen fled there to austria.

Was für ein Unsinn 3 Länder in 4 Tagen zu besuchen! Ist das so? Nun wenn man in Wien weilt kommt man als Reiselustiger leicht auf die Idee einen Abstecher in die Slowakei oder nach Ungarn zu machen. Nun so wars es auch. Wien habe ich zum zweiten mal erlebt, und fand es diesmal schöner( was aber auch an einer anderen Jahreszeit lag). Das historische Zentrum mit seinen vielen alten Gebäuden ist schon sehenswert. Vom naturhistorischen Musem aus, über die Hofburg und der Spanischen Hofreiterschule ging es zum Stephansdom. Sehr sehr beeindruckend auch ein zweites Mal. In der Slowakei war Bratislava das Ziel. Eigentlich eine typische osteuropäische Stadt( was ich so bisher gesehen habe..) mit vielen Neubauvierteln, wenn da nicht die Burg wäre, von der man einen tollen Blick über die gesamte Stadt und der Donau hat. Mehr kann ich an dieser Stelle gar nicht erwähnen, da zu mehr leider die Zeit nicht gereicht hatte. In Ungarn war Sopron das Ziel, da es direkt an der Grenze lag. Eine schöne kleine Stadt die an alte Zeiten erinnert. Erwähnenswert deshalb, da zum Zeitpunkt der Wender(kurz vor Mauerfall) hier einige hundert DDR Bürger nach Österreich flohen.
